Promises made bride to groom, parent to child, or God to His people never change, yet never look the same from one day to the next. While not stated in every measure, the foundation of this piece, an a minor ascending scale, never changes. Like a promise faithfully fulfilled, each iteration of the melody is a new interpretation of the promise.

Jesus was in Jerusalem to celebrate Passover at the beginning of Holy Week, a celebration that looks forward to the ultimate sacrifice for redemption. This is arguably the most important holiday in the Jewish calendar, as is Easter for Christians. The Old Testament Passover lamb, provided physical salvation from the death of all the Israelite first born, and from brutal slavery in Egypt. At the Last Supper, Jesus made a connection between his death and Resurrection with the events preceding the Exodus from Egypt. The cruxifiction occurred on the same day and time that the sacrificial lambs were offered. The veil in the Temple that separated the Presence of God from the people was torn, from top to bottom. ~ Matthew 27:50-51 Then Jesus shouted out again, and he released his spirit. At that moment the curtain in the sanctuary of the Temple was torn in two, from top to bottom.
Matthew 27:55-56 Many women were there, watching from a distance. They had
